Commercial Litigation: Elizabeth was recently selected as a Thomson Reuters Rising Star in commercial litigation by the Texas Super Lawyers for 2017. Elizabeth’s services in commercial litigation include claims involving breach of contract, collections, non-compete agreements, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and interference in business relationships, among others. Elizabeth can handle your dispute from pre-litigation through the appeal and post-litigation.
Appeals and Trial Briefing: Elizabeth handles federal and state civil appeals and is experienced in briefing and oral argument. While in law school, Elizabeth won two national championships in oral argument and was named the Best Advocate at the Texas Young Lawyer’s Moot Court Championships in 2012. Elizabeth has briefed appeals and argued before the Texas Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Amarillo and Austin Court of Appeals, and has defended in opposition to a writ of certiorari before the Supreme Court of the United States. Elizabeth can assist with appellate issues while the case is still pending at the trial level through the finality of the appeal. Elizabeth also offers her briefing and argument services to other attorneys for complex legal issues to be presented to the court.
Vineyard and Winery Law: Elizabeth holds a personal interest in the vineyard and winery industry, as her family has both a vineyard and a winery in the area. Elizabeth can assist in the completion of contracts, winery permits, business entity selection and other requirements for both vineyard and winery owners.
Business Transactions: Elizabeth can assist you in business entity selection and completion of required documents, including regulations, certificates, and minutes to ensure that your business complies with applicable laws and requirements in Texas. Elizabeth also provides contract review and drafting services regarding a range of issues, including services, employment and asset purchase agreements. While in law school, Elizabeth was hired by the Tech Law School to serve as a tutor to first-year students in the subject of contracts. Because of Elizabeth’s experience in business disputes, Elizabeth can assist you in contract review and preparation to prepare for disputes in the future.
Estate Planning: Approximately 80 percent of all people die without a will. The process of preparing and executing your will and related documents, such as the designations of financial and medical power of attorneys, can be daunting. Elizabeth assists her clients in preparing their estate planning documents to ensure that loved ones are provided with clear direction for the handling of the estate.
Property and Estate Disputes: In addition to business disputes, Elizabeth has also handled multiple property and estate disputes, including real estate disputes and will contests. Elizabeth has researched and prepared CLE (Continuing Legal Education) papers and presentations on property disputes.
